In the 19th century Chateau Romefort was created with agricultural land dedicated to pasture and the cultivation of vines and orchards.
In the 20th century, the vineyard plots and the name of the wine “Chateau Romefort” were attached to Chateau Lamothe de Bergeron, and the wine was classified as a Cru Bourgeois. Today Chateau Lamothe-Bergeron is bringing the wine and its history back to life by reviving the Chateau Romefort brand. The original plots of land have been identified in the south of the village of Cussac-Fort-Medoc and the 18 hectares are dedicated to the production of this wine.
